From goodreads: Warning: This is not a story about fate or destiny. This is a story about pain, sorrow, and suffering. This is an impulsive whirlwind romance between two lovers that are not meant to be together. Theirs is not a world with sunshine and roses. Instead, their love blossoms in a secret world full of crime, violence, and death. Their story is about what can be born from nightmares.
Danielle “Danny” West is the daughter of Deuce West, President of the Hell’s Horsemen Motorcycle Club. A sweet and beautiful girl, she loses her way, searching for things that are always out of her reach. Erik “Ripper” Jacobs is the Sergeant of Arms in the Hell’s Horsemen. Once a man who always had a smile on his face, his life takes a turn for the worst when a tragedy befalls him, leaving him scarred and broken. During a midsummer night, Danny and Ripper’s paths cross, forever changing their lives. Hastily, their lust turns to love until another tragedy forces them apart. On a journey that is marred with ugliness and chaos, Danny and Ripper must discover if their unforeseen connection can find the beauty in their world.
This is Danny and Ripper’s story.
Everything has beauty. Even the ugly. Especially the ugly.
Because without ugly, there would be no beauty.
This book captivated me from the start and if I enjoyed Undeniable, the first book in the series…I fell in love with this book!!! UnBeautifully is in a category all on its own because no other book can compare. By the time I was done reading this story I was left absolutely speechless and exhausted and frankly, I needed a cigarette just to calm my nerves!!!
“If your old man caps me, you better be front and center at my fuckin’ funeral, cryin’ your goddamn eyes out.”
I fell head over heels for Ripper because he’s perfectly imperfect and deeply flawed. He knows it and he’s got the scars to prove it but that’s what makes him, in my eyes, a brilliant and heart breaking character!!! And Danny was perfect for him; Danny was his light that Ripper desperately needed. My love for Ripper was instantaneous. Don’t get me wrong, Ripper can be really scary but he’s sensitive in his own way. My feelings for Ripper didn’t waiver in the way I did with Duece because Ripper had me from the very start!!
“He knew Danny, she was a fucking chatterbox. She was always rambling on and on about music and clothes and some asshat named Chan-a-something Tater Tots.”
The story flows in a way that is not rushed and yet, it’s not slow…it’s perfect. There are different storyline transitions that are incredibly seamless and there are layers upon layers which make it colorful and rich. UnBeautifully isn’t a beautiful story by any means, it’s raw and gut-wrenching. It will make you question your thoughts on how you would handle the situations that are presented along their journey and I love nothing more than a thought provoking story!!!
“And sometimes, love is unconventional and it breaks all the rules and blurs all the lines and basks in its glory, shining as bright as the sun, unapologetically glowing even under the narrowed stares of society and its screaming, self-righteous morals, berating and judging that which it doesn’t understand.”
Madeline Sheehan certainly knows how to write a story that’s unique and different and she will not stop until she commands your full attention. She had me at Ripper!!! Can you tell I’m slightly obsessed?
This book/series isn’t for everyone but if you are feeling courageous and need something edgy and new, get ready to one-click!!!
Q&A with Madeline Sheehan:
Cristina: How did you give birth to this series and its characters?
Madeline: I was in the middle of writing My Soul To Take, book two in my Holy Trinity Trilogy and need a mental break, so I opened up a new word doc and out came Undeniable. Like vomit. I couldn’t stop writing it once I started even if I’d wanted to. Which, unlike vomiting, I didn’t.
Cristina: Did you know you wanted to write series or did it first start as a stand alone book?
Madeline: It started as a standalone book. I wasn’t sure of the reception the story was going to receive and I’d planned on going back to my other series after publishing it, but after the amazing feedback, and honestly, I missed my characters, they were still so alive in my head, begging for their own stories, that I couldn’t not continue it.
Cristina: Did you always know that you want to write books within the romance genre?
Madeline: No. I always knew I wanted to write books but it wasn’t until I started reading romance books that I became interested in writing them. I have to give my Grandmother props, who, when I was in middle school, leant me “Gone with the Wind” and I fell madly in love with Rhett Butler.
Cristina: In Undeniable and now, Unbeautifully do you have a favorite character or do you love them all equally?
Madeline: Deuce. Not one other male character I have ever written compares. He’s ruined me.
Cristina: If you had to cast the movie for Unbeautifully, what models or actor’s would you pick??
Madeline: Sean Bean is hands down my older Deuce. Mila Kunis would be a good pick for Eva. Amaury Nolasco is, WITHOUT a DOUBT, Cox! He just needs to go get pierced and tatted up! Kate Moss is my Kami. Lane Levy (with blonde hair) is a close one for Danny. David Beckham (with long hair) is Ripper, no doubt. Ripper is H.O.T. Kellan Lutz (with long blonde hair) could be Cage. Emma Stone – Dorothy. Mark Wahlberg– Jase. Taylor Kitsch – ZZ. Dakata Fanning – Tegen.
