From goodreads: Emilia Wentworth would do anything for her sister.
For three years, Emilia has lived in the past, feeling her sister’s pain and hating those who are to blame, including one of the Sloan brothers.
Finally, she has had enough. The only way to be free is to create a Burn List with all the people who have ever hurt her sister.
As she crosses each name off, she gets closer and closer to her final target. But, things aren’t always as they seem.
Loyalties are tested.
Boundaries are crossed.
And the truth is revealed.
There is so much mystery that surround this book that you won’t be able to put it down until you find out what’s going on! I was on the edge of my seat the entire time trying to figure out why Emilia had a list in the first place and why Macsen?
There is so much mystery that surrounds this book that you won’t be able to put it down until you find out what’s going on! To say that I absolutely enjoyed this book is an understatement. I was lucky enough to read it while travelling and I didn’t run the risk of any interruptions and I was thankful for that!! The only issue I had with the book was wanting more time with Emilia’s sister. I wanted more flashback scenes. I wanted to understand her motivations for doing what she did and I have to be vague purposely so I don’t ruin the plot.
With that being said, the book moves at a wonderful pace, the writing is fantastic, the characters have depth and there was a perfect amount of push and pull between Macsen and Emilia. I was on the edge of my seat the entire time trying to figure out why Emilia had a list in the first place and why Macsen? What did he do to deserve to be a target of the Wenworth siblings?? But there are secrets that we aren’t privy to until the story progresses and my heart broke once everything was slowly revealed.
I felt Emilia’s every emotion and I felt her immediate dislike for Macsen and that’s putting it mildly but as she gets to know him she realizes that maybe her idea of him is completely wrong. She realizes that she’s starting to fall in love with him and she has no idea how she’ll break that news to her brother because ultimately, revenge is so close that he can taste it. For Emilia, being in Macsen’s presence is soothing, safe and peaceful which is a far cry from the life she’s lived over the course of the last few years. And so their journey to love and forgiveness begins…
Emilia and Macsen are two broken and dark individuals who think there isn’t a chance to truly be happy or even loved but as the magnetic pull draws them in closer, all hell breaks loose and thank goodness! If I loved Macsen in Every Which Way, I love him even more now because his vulnerable side is revealed. It’s filled with insecurity and pain but that seems to wash away when he’s with Emilia. But then the secret is exposed.
This is a story about love but most importantly about forgiveness and moving on to find peace. It’s about two individuals that find solace in each other and have the ability to forget what makes them hate and learn to forgive. This story will hook you in from the very first page and Calia Read will not let you go until you close the book.
My final two cents: If you loved Every Which Way, the first book in the series…you will absolutely adore Breaking the Wrong! I need more of this series!!!
