I Love You to Death by Natalie Ward

When Ash loses her boyfriend, she is consumed by grief, loneliness and an overwhelming sense of guilt for her role in not only his death, but the deaths of everyone she has ever loved. Refusing to let anyone in for fear of losing them too, she becomes withdrawn, spending her days reliving the nightmares from her past.  Until she meets Luke.  Initially scared by his intensity and interest in her, Ash tries to push him away. But as Luke slowly starts to chip away at the walls she’s built, Ash finds herself doing the one thing she swore she’d never do again — falling in love.   When the familiar feelings Ash had hoped were long buried with her past begin to resurface, she is forced to ask herself if falling in love again is really worth the risk.

This book made me cry a lot!  *sniff*   I was sitting at the bus station and I was blubbering like a complete fool.  This book is filled with so much angst that I didn’t know what to do with myself.  The only thing I could do was drop to my knees with my arms wide open and keep on blubbering!!!  There were a few moments when the story dragged a bit but that didn’t last long at all.

I wasn’t sure how much coincidental crap could happen to one person but all of it happened to Ash.  And because there was so much death, I wasn’t sure where this story was going but eventually (and rather quickly) I realized it’s a story about life and how unfair it can be at times.  It’s also a story about forgiveness and love.  The story is written in such a way that I felt I was reading someone’s diary.  A dairy filled with painful memories to remind me why Ash couldn’t allow herself to love anyone, no matter how badly she wanted to.

Ash was a train wreck waiting to happen and I couldn’t stop from watching it unravel!  Between her binge drinking and wanting to keep Luke at a distance, it was heart breaking.  I felt every painful moment; when she lost someone in her life, her pain became my pain.

Holy hot lead singer named Luke!  Patient Luke.  Chef Luke. Beautiful Luke. Do you see where I’m going with this??  I have found my new book boyfriend and he’s beyond swoon worthy! The patience and kindness he shows to Ash…it’s hard for Ash or the reader to not fall in love with him.  I mean, what’s not to love??  He even writes a song to tell her how he feels about her and it’s only when she hears those words that she realizes, living without loving is not living at all.

This book will break heart, make you cry and remind you why we read stories about romance.

Grab a box of tissues and start reading!  :)
