Inescapable

Inescapable (The Premonition, #1)

My name is Evie Claremont and this was to be the making of me–my freshman year
of college. I’d been hoping that once I’d arrived on Crestwood’s campus, the
nightmare that I’ve been having would go away. It hasn’t.
I may be an inexperienced seventeen-year-old, but I’m grounded…sane. I look for rational
explanations to even the strangest circumstances. Since meeting sophomore Reed
Wellington, however, nothing makes any sense. Whenever he’s near, I feel an
attraction to him–a magnetic kind of force pulling me towards him. I know what
you’re thinking…that sounds fairly awesome. Yeah, it would be…if he liked me,
but Reed acts as if I’m the worst thing that has ever happened to Crestwood…or
him. But get this, for some reason every time I turn around he’s there, barging
into my life.
What is the secret that he’s keeping from me? I’m hoping that
it’s anything but what I suspect: that he’s not exactly normal…and neither am I.
So, maybe Crestwood won’t be the making of me, but it could be the breaking of
me. I’ve been left to wonder if the dark future my dream is foretelling
is…inescapable.

This is what a paranormal story is all about and I loved every word of it!  Very few authors get paranormal romance right and Amy Bartol delivered!  She wrote this story brilliantly and has become one of my favorite authors!! There is romance, action and Angels, what’s not to love??  She also keeps you guessing and the mystery that surrounds the romance is stressful. (That’s the kind of stress I can live with on a daily basis!!) *sigh*  It took me two days (not even) to finish this book and I had a hard time putting it down, if it wasn’t for the fact I needed to sleep in order to function…I would have finished it in one day!

Let’s start with Evie, shall we?  I loved her.  She’s compassionate, a little insecure but not too much that would make me want to slap her and she’s witty!  The opening is so great because it details a beautiful relationship she has with her Uncle Jim and while he doesn’t have a major role in the book, it’s enough for me to develop a soft spot for him.  He sends her off to college to embark on a journey and what a journey it is!

Holy hotness Batman!  I think I found my new book boyfriend and he’s got REED written all over him!  He was so frustrating with his cryptic statements and his bossy and arrogant attitude that I just couldn’t get enough.  I seriously love to be tortured!  But the genuine love and concern he has for Evie was enough to make me swoon, multiple times! (Enter Russell)  UGGGHHHH!!!  Not impressed with him whatsoever!  He is part of the love triangle and he was irritating beyond belief because he was simply getting in the way of Reed and Evie! Clearly, I’m TEAM REED!  I know he’s a sweet southern gentleman but enough with trying to win her over! Yeah I get it, he is/was the soul mate for Evie but…blah…blah…blah!!!

I will describe the romance between Evie and Reed in some of Amy’s words, I’ll only use three words: butterflies & magnetic pull — enough said! But it doesn’t stop at the romance and the Angel speak *swoon again* because it moves into a major action scene with Sebastian.  At this point,  I don’t know if I’m coming or going!  Sheesh! Just when I think that’s the last of the action, there is more drama, leading to more action!  I know what you are thinking, is it possible?? For the love of Angels everywhere, YES!

What Amy did with the ending of Inescapable is hit my right between the eyes!!!  It pushed me over the edge!  I didn’t see the whole Alfred thing coming at all and to think I liked that son-ofa-reaper!  Then between the 7-eleven moment and the news about Uncle Jim, I needed a Xanax!  It was gut-wrenching!

I love this book, as if you couldn’t tell!  Every character is rich in their own way, regardless if they are irritating or not, the story is well written and brilliant at every angle.  Suspend your disbelief and enjoy the ride!! :)
